So, we have been wanting to get Dane into sports for awhile. But as with everything, he's a perfectionist and if he can't do it well, he doesn't want to do it at all. Obviously you can't be perfect at something on the first try, so it took some convincing to get him excited. Of course, his hesitation to play ended pretty much the second he stepped onto the field the first day of practice. Now he asks everyday if he has soccer practice and is disappointed that the answer is "no, you only have practice on Wednesdays." He actually surprised us in his game this morning. He did great as goalie (his coveted position) and stopped quite a few goals. Then when he joined the team on the field he was right there with everyone (most of the time). He ran his little heart out and was sweaty and red-faced by the end. We are very proud of him! Maybe there is a little athlete buried in there somewhere.

Standing!
Two Wheeler
Dane has been riding a bike with training wheels since he was three and a half. I decided it was past time to teach him to ride with out the training wheels. He just looked so young riding to school…I was worried kids were going to start teasing him. So, just this past Saturday we decided to take them off. He of course refused, said he wouldn’t do it, didn’t want us to take them off. I didn’t give him a choice. After taking the training wheels off we took off the pedals. This allowed him to learn balance without having to worry about pedaling. Dan pushed him back and forth on the back yard patio until he could balance. When he put the pedals back on and took him out to the street he rode alone on the first push. It took him a little bit to get the hang of starting on his own but now (four days later) he’s great. He was so excited he kept asking if he could ride his bike. I told him repeatedly how proud of him I was. I would look at him and smile and he would act embarrassed or like he didn’t know what I was happy about. “What?!” he would say with huge dimples. His dimples appear when he just thinks about smiling…so cute! We rode to school yesterday. It makes me a little sad to see how time has passed but I love to see him so proud of himself and growing up.

Dane's Graduation
Dane's Firsts
Preschool (1st and 2nd years)
Kindergarten 1st Grade
These are pictures of each of Dane's First Days of School. I can't believe how grown up he looks this year compared to all the rest! The hair is so great! Apparently it keeps getting shorter :0) I wish it was still the curly blonde surfer look! It won't do that anymore. When it gets too long it looks like he stuck his finger in a light socket (ie Kindergarten pic). But when its too short it makes his head look big (ie 1st grade). Its weird having him gone all day! Thankfully Brice entertains himself pretty well (and still takes a nap). Its actually kind of nice (much less fighting!). We do miss him when he is gone.

Brice's Big Day
Brice had his first day of Preschool today. He was so excited to be going to school just like Dane!!!I can't believe how fast they grow! It's stange to drop him off and come home with only one child. Mackenzie goes down for her first nap and the house is so quiet! It will be nice when she isn't napping in the morning...I can go grocery shopping, etc with just ONE child. How great will that be?!
