Well, it took me a day to get on, but I have been trying to rest... so I am editing Dan's version of the birth story so I can go lay back down. Luke Daniel Jenkins was born on 9/8/10 at 1:39 pm. He weighed in at 7lbs 11oz (the same weight as our other Vegas baby) and was 19 inches long. We went to the hospital at 4:00 a.m. to be induced. They gave me Pitossin but I was progressing slowly. They gave me an epidural and broke my water and I went from a 3cm dialated to a 6cm in 30 minutes. I made it all the way to a 9.5 in record time but the baby's heart rate was dropping during the contractions.The first time it really dropped three nurses rushed in and shoved an oxygen mask in my face and cut off the Pitossin. This brought back memories of Dane's deliver...ugh! Dan called in a friend and they gave me a blessing. The blessing promised mepeace of mind and a healthy baby (but not a resolution of the underlying problem). The Nurses figured it was the umbillical cord in play some how, and it was. Luke came out with the cord wrapped around his neck and he was a vibrant shade of purple. He got unwrapped and he was fine. They did have an OR waiting just in case it needed to go to an emergency C-section. We are both recovering and doing just fine. Though he was CRAZY in my belly, he is quite the little sleeper now.
